Sourced from the “Old Crow Vineyard” of Chalk Hill, the 2014 Capella Red Blend is a modern reincarnation of how a heritage field blend should drink. Most notable is the purple core that transcends into a ruby red rim. Young red fruit appears on the nose with a distinct black pepper backbone. Small amounts of Mourvedre intensify the mid-palate richness with flavors of chocolate, earth, and game. Bright acidity from ancient Carignane balanced with rich tannins from Zinfandel will allow this wine to age as well as the neighborhood it grew up in.
